18-year-old teen allegedly broke into Beo Crescent minimart, stole $3.4k cash and packet of cigarettes

An 18-year-old teenager was arrested after he allegedly broke into a minimart to steal cash and cigarettes.

The police said they were alerted to a case of housebreaking along Beo Crescent on May 6, at around 12pm.

"Cash amounting to $3,400 and one packet of cigarettes were purportedly stolen," the police added.

Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from CCTVs and police cameras, officers from Tanglin Police Division established the teenager's identity and arrested him within four hours of the report.

The teenager will be charged in court on May 8 with the offence of housebreaking in order to commit theft, which carries a jail term of up to ten years and a fine.
