Woman apprehended after locking herself in Toa Payoh HDB flat

A 50-year-old woman was apprehended after causing a scene at Block 107 Lorong 1 Toa Payoh on Wednesday afternoon (Sep 2).

Stomper Jeff alerted Stomp to the incident and shared photos and a video he took of the scene.

Stomp understands the woman is a patient at the Institute of Mental Health (IMH) and had locked herself inside a unit.

In the photos and video, Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) officers are seen setting up an inflatable safety life air pack at the foot of the block.

The scene attracts several onlookers.

In response to a Stomp query, a police spokesman said they received a call for assistance at the said location at about 1.02pm.

"A 50-year-old woman was apprehended under Section 7 of the Mental Health (Care and Treatment) Act," a police spokesman said.

No injuries were reported.
